A new television advertisement featuring the “Together Fairness Works” campaign is now playing on stations throughout Canada.
The Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada, along with the Confederation of Canadian Unions, is playing a significant role in the campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the value that unions provide millions of workers all over the country, both inside and outside of unions.
According to Statistics Canada, unionized workers enjoy an average 29% higher pay, superior benefits and pensions, longer vacations time, better health and safety standards, and more rights on the job.
But just as important, unions provide a standard in workplaces that other employers have to live up to in order to compete. This way, unions play a universal role in raising working conditions everywhere.
That’s what the “Together Fairness Works” campaign is all about.
